34 Ford 5W Coupe
Six years in the making, Darren's 1934 Aussie Body Ford Coupe is everything he wanted and more.
When your hobby becomes your job it can sometimes take the shine off your hobby. Happily, this is NOT the case for us!
Although this build has taken some time (the longest of any of our personal builds) we are more than happy with the result! Darren calls this his 'holy grail' car, everything he has ever wanted in one package.

It started years ago when he saw a listing for the coupe (from Cory Longfield in NSW) on Facebook, decision made we did a quick 2 day roadtrip to pick up the body. We, of course, stopped at the Valla sign on the way home, thinking it would only take a year or so.... hahaha..It had more holes than a sieve (or so I thought!) and a long road ahead to chop and modify the Aussie body to get the look just right. Darren then had to get his cranky 327 back out of my roadster so we played musical engines one weekend and swapped the 350 from the race car into the roadster and the 327 into the coupe.. this of course meant a new engine for the racecar! Of course the Executioner then had to go 'faster' and I can report they have shaved the ET into the 10's.

In mid 2021 I mentioned to Darren that it would be awesome for him to drive Lauren (our daughter) to her wedding in May 2022 in his coupe. No pressure!! With a dead line now in place, he kicked up the time he spent on the coupe and smashed it out of the park! Paul at Beaudesert Collision and his team carried out the paintwork and I can report they were great (especially when we got them to mix up 5 different versions of the blue only to go back to the first one!!)

While the coupe was never built to get trophies it is always a nice recognition to receive one. The coupe debuted at 2022 Narrandera Rod Run in NSW (Easter 2022) and took out Top Rod. I think you can tell by the look on Darren's face how humbled and happy he was to receive this accolade. The 34 was also in the Top Ten at Valla 2022 and received a top 25 at the ASRF Hotrod Nationals in Sydney 2024.
